This is our development service for CBT that is to be presented using Windows PC's. Courses can be installed on the student's PC - with or without a database - or can be run directly from CD or DVD.

Our service covers every aspect of development and implementation. For example:

We can create CBT using any tools you specify - from raw programming upwards - but we normally prefer to use our own product CourseWriter. We believe that no other system can produce comparable results as quickly, or can be deployed as easily as CourseWriter. With CourseWriter we can produce the right results faster and at less cost to you.

Another advantage of CourseWriter is that with only a small initial outlay (less than £500) you can continue your own development and maintenance of the course material we produce for you. See Quick Start.

CBT Solutions offer a complete development service for web-based training. As with our Classic CBT developments, this service covers every aspect of development and implementation.

We have considerable experience of implementing training via the Internet and private intranets. We can guide you through all the issues that surround web-based training and help you to achieve a successful implementation.

If you would like to develop your own CBT but are not sure how to begin, Quick Start can help you by significantly reducing the learning curve for new authors.

How does it work? Quite simply, you commission us to develop your first CBT project and then use it as the design template for further projects. The look and feel of your course material will already have been established for you, and your authors will have plenty of examples to draw on when producing new work.

Quick Start works particularly well if you have chosen CourseWriter as your development system.

CBT Development FAQs

Here are our answers to some frequently asked questions:

Can you handle the production of any distribution media we might want - CD-ROMs for example? Yes.

Who will own the rights to the course material? All rights (including the copyright) to any course material we produce for you will belong to you.

Are there any run-time licence fees or royalties if we choose CourseWriter? If you choose to have CBT Solutions develop your courseware with CourseWriter, we will provide you with a licence to use Presenter (the program the students need) royalty-free throughout your organisation. If you want to target a larger audience (i.e. outside your own organisation) there may be a small royalty fee per copy unless you can demonstrate an adequate first-line support arrangement for your customers. Are your development prices based on time and materials or are they fixed? We prefer to work with fixed price contracts (tell us what you want and we'll tell you how much it will cost - guaranteed) but we are happy to work on a time and materials basis if that is what you want or if it is dictated by the nature of the project.

OK, I have a project in mind, what do I do next? Contact us and give us an outline of the project. Typically, we will first give you our estimate of the likely cost. Then we will produce a few screens of prototype course material to establish the look and feel you want for the project. When everybody is satisfied that we are on the right track, we will provide you with a fixed price quotation.

If you are finding it difficult to see how you can integrate and manage all the various training technologies you want to use, we can help. We have many years' experience in creating successful, integrated training solutions.

We can for example, help you to identify your organisation's training needs, suitable learning materials, and appropriate delivery and distribution options. Our programming, networking and database skills can provide you with customised interfaces to blend training data for accurate performance analysis. We can even supply production services for on-line or paper-based publications.
