CourseWriter Developer

CourseWriter Developer comprises Author and Presenter Software.

• Author is our CBT and multimedia development system. Use Author to create high-quality interactive training material and multimedia presentations.
  
• Presenter presents training material to students, or multimedia presentations to your audience. Database-enabled and non-database versions are provided.

A single-user Developer licence is £450 (four hundred and fifty pounds Sterling). This licence allows you to install one copy of Author and as many copies of Presenter as you require within your own organisation. See the next topic What about Royalties for more information on Presenter licences.

Discounts are available for multiple copies and educational users.

Developers who want to distribute their generated courseware and Presenter within their own organisation are usually granted an organisation-wide, multi-user, royalty-free Presenter licence.

In situations where courseware is sold on, or distributed to external organisations, or there are support implications for CBT Solutions please contact us. A small royalty fee may be required for each Presenter System you want to distribute.

"We are aware of how restrictive royalty fee arrangements can be - any fee we charge is not designed to generate profit for CBT Solutions but merely to cover our potential support costs. Royalties can be as much as £25 per copy or as little as 1p per copy, depending on the number of copies and the likely level of support required from CBT Solutions. If you can demonstrate an adequate first-line support arrangement for your customers, this fee will be waived."

Maintenance and Support

90 days support is provided free.

An annual maintenance contract is available for Developer at £150 (one hundred and fifty pounds Sterling) per year. Maintenance includes priority technical support, unlimited telephone help-line support, UK site visits where necessary (at CBT Solutions' discretion), and free upgrades to all major and minor CourseWriter Developer releases - usually twice a year.

All support calls from an organisation are normally channelled through nominated individuals - usually the authors, administrators or technical specialists.

Product Training

We offer a variety of training courses to help you get the best out of Developer. These are usually instructor-led courses, held at your premises, for up to eight people. Because training is tailored to suit your individual needs, prices can vary but will normally be £500 (five hundred pounds Sterling) per training day plus expenses.

CourseWriter Manager

CourseWriter Manager comprises:

• Administrator - a comprehensive Administration System that lets you to track student progress and administer the learning environment.
  
• Student Registration - a program used by students that lets you track their location and activity in real-time.
  
• Monitor - a program that displays system status and monitors student activity. Broadcasts exception messages to alert you to any problems (requires Windows NT).

Manager programs are implemented in Microsoft Access and can be linked to any ODBC-compliant CourseWriter database - usually also an Access database. You do not need to install a full version of Access to use the Manager programs. A run-time only version of Access is supplied.

Source code for the Manager programs is not supplied.

The cost of a single-user Manager licence is typically between £2,000 (two thousand pounds Sterling) and £8,000 (eight thousand pounds Sterling) depending on how many CBT lessons you need to manage and capture data on, and how much the programs need to be customised for you.

All versions of the licence allow you to install 1 (one) copy of Monitor, up to 5 (five) copies of Administrator and as many copies of the Student Registration program as you require within your own organisation.
